[RECIPE] Microwave-Baked Toblerone Brownie Souffle

A decadent brownie souffle made rich and moist with Toblerone bars. This is an easy-to-bake chocolate dessert recipe using only a microwave.

It's not actually the first time that I've tried making microwave-baked brownie souffle. I've been baking microwave brownies using a mug. This time, I decided to use my newly purchased ramekins.

I had this box of brownie mix for awhile. I've used up one pack for the regular layered brownie. I used the other pack for brownie in a cup. You don't really need much for each cup.

What I don't like about the brownie mix is that it's not that chocolatey as I wanted them to be. The ready-mix brownie was more on the dry side. I was able to come up with adjustments after I've had the 3rd batch. I have to go through trial and error to finally get the right and moist consistency.

I realized that to achieve a moist brownie, the egg has to be added to the mix in a 1 is to 4 ratio, which means lesser egg and more mix. Because the amount of cocoa in the mix is limited, I have to add something that has a high melting point and also something that will improve the taste of the chocolate. The Toblerone bar that was given to me last week is a perfect addition. So that's how I came up with this recipe.

A rich chocolate dessert of brownie souffle made rich and moist with Toblerone bars.

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp softened butter
  • 3/4 cup brownie mix
  • 4-5 triangular racks in a bar of Toblerone (just break it apart from the bar)

  1. Place 3 triangular racks of Toblerone in a ceramic/glass bowl. Heat in the microwave for 1:20 minutes.
  2. It will not fully melt but you can stir it to thoroughly melt it. Cool.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix egg, softened butter and brownie mix.
  4. Add the 1 remaining toblerone rack and break it into small, shredded pieces using a knife.
  5. Add the shreds of toblerone in the mixture. Mix well.
  6. In a ramekin (or you can use a cup), rub butter around the ramekin and coat with white sugar.
  7. Pour mixture. For ramekins, don't pour above one inch from the rim. For a cup, don't go above 3/4.
  8. Microwave for 1 minute and 10 seconds. Observe how it will rise.
  9. Remove from the microwave. Let it cool.
  10. Sprinkle sugar on top. Serve.
